$ 39.00Lovely black silk velvet dress from the 30s. They just don't make velvet like this anymore. Its so soft and fine. This is a very simple cut, below the knee, V neck with matching velvet buttons, and some smocking at the shoulders and a bit below the bust. long sleeves that snap at the cuff. Snaps at the side, loops for a belt but no belt anymore alas. Smaller size I'd say. No label. Please see condition below as this dress has some issues.
$ 38.00This is one of those pieces I couldn't leave behind no matter the damage. This was stunning in its day and is still amazing. It was too small for my dress form so I have displayed it pinned to the dress form. Pale lemoney yellow organza or organdy with a white print of bows and flowers, semi sheer full length party dress from the 30s or possibly 40s. Over a solid opaque yellow acetate slip. Short puff sleeves, fitted bodice with a gather at the décolleté, deep scoop back with decorative fabeic covered buttons up it, and then a long flowy skirt. Metal zipper on the side of both dress and slip. No label. This is a great deal for someone who may want to upcycle pieces of it, or likes a shabby look, or has better seamstress skills than I do. Also good for a costume or as a pattern or study. Please read condition below.
$ 39.00Just stunning black wiggle dress circa late 1940s or earlier 50s. Feels like a silk faille. Feast your eyes on that amazing polonaise!!! Two big bows gather it up to a flounce on either side. There is an entire pencil skirt underneath with its own separate zipper. Peekaboo keyhole opening at the collar and another bow at the back of the neck atop another keyhole opening. No label. Probably a small size. Please see condition below. So much to love about this dress.
$ 35.00 - Sold OutGlorious full length gown from about the 40s. I believe this is dupioni silk. Strapless, heart shaped neckline gathered in the center with a bit of smocking and touched with a fluff of back lace. Simple full skirt. Metal zipper and a hook and eye at the side. Medium size I'd say. No label. Please see condition below as this dress has some issues and is sold as is.
$ 30.00 - Sold OutPretty black slip circa 1940s. Meant originally as a slip underneath a dress, but would make a fantastic slip dress now. There is an interesting panel of chiffon down the front of the bodice, lace trim round the top of the bodice and flesh colored spaghetti straps. Metal zipper on the side. Medium size, I'd say. Label reads: Toni Tyler Please see condition below as this has some issues. Feels like a rayon.
$ 15.00 - Sold OutPretty blush pink slip circa 1940s. Wider shoulder straps, dropped waist, interesting seams at the diagonal down the torso in front. No label. Larger size. This darling does have some issues, please read below
$ 35.00 - Sold OutPretty black chiffon dress circa 1940s. Meant originally to be worn over another layer obviously. Covered buttons all up the front and a sweeping skirt with lace inserts. So pretty. Medium size, I'd say. Please see condition below as this has some issues.
$ 24.00I love the lavender-ey pink color of this pretty party dress. Its circa 1950s or early 60s. Would have had a little bolero jacket or top over the bodice and the hooks for that are still there. Its too small for my dress form by a bit so it's pinned in back but the zipper works great. This is an opaque layer of acetate or rayon with a sheer chiffon that feels like a poly maybe over the top. Full skirt but not a full circle, would be great with a crinoline, which I have not shown it with here. Sleeveless, wide waistband with a pellon lining to help it hold its shape. Zipper in the back. No label. Please see condition below as it has some issues. Small size, I'd say. Or extra small.
$ 35.00Very special black lace illusion dress over a dark mauvey pink under layer of, I believe, faille. Tooo small for my dress forms so I've pinned her here. Flirty cap sleeves, full skirt though not a full circle, and the most gorgeous black velvet bow under the bust. Metal zipper up the back. Label reads: Original Lilli Diamond of California Also good for a costume or as a pattern or study. Extra small. Please read condition below.
$ 30.00 - Sold OutSuper fun genuine vintage 1950s does 20s flapper girl dress in black nylon with black fringe trim. This is circa 1950s. I had so much fun discovering all the nifty stuff about this costume. For one, its a step in, so your crotch is covered when you kick those legs up! And then it has covered snaps all down one side, and garters to hold your stockings up. The neckline is covered in rhinestone trim, as are the velvet shoulder straps, and then at some point someone added that broach to the center of the bust line. I don't believe it was original to the dress as it looks much more contemporary. There are layers upon layers of black fringe, and then this one random area of dark orangey-red just for fun at the right bust. I'd say in the small to medium size range. There is one small cloth label that proclaims it to be "Style 925". Please see condition below.
$ 25.00Fantastic vintage 50 wiggle dress in silk satin damask with silver embroidery and gold velvet soutache. This is a true wiggle as there is no split in the skirt. Sleeveless tank style with a low v back. Fully lined in silk. She's too small for my dress forms so I've pinned her on. There is no specific designer label but it does have a label that says it was "Made In British Crown Colony of Hong Kong" This dress is still wearable but does have issues, thus being in my scratch and dent section. Please see below.
$ 20.00Pretty peacock blue maxi dress form the 60s. Chiffon over a satin lining which is itself lined in something that feels like a light rayon or possibly silk blend. Sleeveless, higher scooped neck and slightly lower back. Buttons up the back. There is a zipper up the back on the lining and then little buttons up the back on the chiffon. In the photo the zipper on the lining is undone. No label. Small to medium I'd say. Please see condition below.
Good vintage condition. The satin layer is actually in great condition, the only thing I've been able to spot on that is a faint watermark on the skirt and some minor color fade and a small amount ( maybe an inch long) of disintegration in the armpits. One could open up those armpits and make them a little bigger, cutting out the damaged bit completely. The chiffon is another story unfortunately. Its falling apart in several places, and the rest has faded areas. I think I'd just remove it entirely and maybe recycle the good parts of it for something else. The satin in this would make a lovely dress on its own. Also, the zipper on this dress needs to be repaired. Priced accordingly and why its in my Scratch and Dent section and as is.
Measurements when lying flat. Doubled at bust and waist.
Armpit to armpit across bust: 35"
Shoulder to Waist: 16"
Shoulder to bottom hem: 57"
Please note: These are vintage, preworn and/or preloved items. I do my best to list any issues, but signs of wear should be expected. Please feel free to convo me with any questions. I'm truly happy to help in any way possible and I'm always up for a chat. Any accessories shown, including crinolines, are for display only, not included unless otherwise stated.
$ 30.00Beautiful baby dress in white cotton circa early 1900s. French seams, two real shell buttons in the back. High empire waist, short cap sleeves made of fluttery handkerchief edged swiss dot trim. There are rows of pintucking all round the bottom of the skirt and then gorgeous cutwork below that. Delicate lace at the neck. Just beautiful!
$ 219.00This is a stunning dress from the 1920s, possibly early 30s in the softest, most delicious, black silk velvet. It is tooo small for my dress forms so I pinned her to show her shape. Look at that gorgeous antiqued gold tone beading round the neckline! There is a ruched ribbon of black velvet going down the bib of the bodice which is echoed at the sleeve cuffs. The cuffs have hook and eye closures. There is a slight drop waist with an asymmetrical waist seam for a bohemian, gypsy feel. There is no opening in this dress ( no zipper or snaps or anything, it merely pulls over the head) so do be sure you have room to get into it, per the measurements. There is the tiniest of labels at the back that reads: Cash's, and then a scattering of small labels with numbers on them, various sizes I suppose. Extra small to small I'd say.
$ 25.00Beautiful white cotton girls dress--or possibly a chemise top for a slightly older child. This would most likley have been the under slip beneath a christening or baptism dress. Tank style with one button holding a shoulder together to make it easier to get on a little one. Darling little art deco-ey lace trim at the bottom of the skirt and then again a few inches up. There is an interesting gather at the back, which I believe is not original to the dress. I suspect it was added at some later point to make the dress fit some little girl a bit better. I've left it but its a matter of removing a few easy stiches to take it back out, which would really help it fit that older child I spoke of.
$ 30.00Beautiful white cotton girls smock or over dress. This would most likley have been worn over a slip underneath. Longer sleeves with beautiful scalloped cuffs. Pintucking and cutwork lace at the collar then that's trimmed in the same scalloped trim as the cuffs. Empire waist, very high. Two tiny buttons at the back of the neck then its open all down the back. The bottom hem is pintucked all the way round in several rows. Its just gorgeous. I'd say this is for a slightly older baby, but do please see the measurements as child sizing is not my forte.
$ 229.00Beautiful vintage black wool blend dress circa 1920s. Gorgeous soutache in the shape of flowers on the bodice nd beautiful horizontal pintucks along the bottom skirt hem. Pretty rounded collar and snaps down the front with decorative covered buttons. Snaps at the side. There are loops for a belt but no belt. There are also snaps at the wrists on the sleeves. Medium size, I'd say. No label.
$ 99.00Absolutely wonderful and charming 1920s day dress. White rayon top with a deep V neck ( someone added a snap at some point for modesty to hold this closed) bordered in a white and blackish-green trim. There's a line of horizontal pintucking all round the bottom of the bodice. The skirt is a black crepe and just has wonderful pleating and pintucking both front and back. There's so much to love about this dress. Sleeveless, dropwaist, easy comfortable fit, and so so cute! Label reads: None. About a medium to large. Please see condition as this beauty does have some issues.
$ 80.00Beautiful vintage black crepe dress from the late 30s, or early 1940s. Tiered skirt, shoulder pads and that amazing neckline. There are two bows, one at either shoulder, and then lace over the shoulders and flutter lace cap sleeves ( see condition on these below). Has a side metal zipper and a thread loop for a belt on one side ( its gone from the other side) but no belt. Medium size, I'd say. Label reads: Lisbeth Fashions.
$ 219.00Beyond beautiful black dress from the later 1940s, or early 1950s. Makes me think of a Black Swan. The most amazing bodice with a black velvet modesty panel across the bust and then black lace and velvet straps over the shoulders. The velvet carries all down the back to a bow at the waist and extra long ends hanging down the skirt. Just gorgeous! Almost a full circle skirt. Has metal zipper on the side. No label. A lovely larger size, and great for a taller girl too! Yay! It's just a hair too big for me or I'd have kept this one for sure.
$ 149.00Beautiful black rayon dress from the later 1940s, or early 1950s. Full circle skirt. Slightly blouse-y bodice with a neckline that's sewn in such a way as to make it look somewhat twisted. The shoulder straps tie so its nice and adjustable as far as length there goes. Has metal zipper on the side. No label. Probably a small to medium.
$ 219.00Beyond beautiful black dress from the later 1940s, or early 1950s. I wish wish, wish I had a dress form small enough for this so you could get the real feel for it, but it's too small so I've had to pin it. Hopefully that will be enough. Its utterly divine. The most amazing bullet shape bodice just full of gorgeous beading all round the bust front and back and then soft black tulle over the shoulders. Fantastic gather at the hip on one side and then this fall of liquid black silk satin skirt which has a small rounded cornered slit on one side. Has metal zipper on the side, but curiously on the right, not the left as usual, and yes, I've made sure which side is front and back. No label, probably homemade though very, very well by an excellent seamstress, but that may explain the zipper.
$ 219.00 - Sold OutOne of the most stunning dresses I've ever had in any of my various shops. Beautiful silvery grey lace over blush acetate lining. From the later 1940s, or early 1950s. Full circle skirt. There is a layer of grey tulle between the lace and the lining. Cross the heart bodice, short illusion sleeves, and illusion shoulders and upper back. Metal Zipper on the side. Thread loops for a belt, but no belt. No label. About a large medium, I'd say.
$ 46.00This is such a cute dress. Pink with white trim at sleeve cuffs and neckline and at the top of the hip pockets. Cute little white stitching is a nice touch too. This is from the later 40s or early 50s. Has a side metal zipper, and a snap at the front of the bodice where a modesty panel was added to give it a semi sailor look. Its linen, I believe, but doesn't wrinkle that much so probably a blend with something else. Label reads: None. A larger size too!
$ 129.00This stunner is a 1940s or 50s prom or party dress that looks like it could have been ( but wasn't) a ballerina's dress for Swan Lake. It was certainly inspired by it! Bodice is boned, and is strapless, and is covered in loosely gathered white tulle. Then those "wings" across the bust! To die. Beautifully studded with rhinestones or diamantes. Metal zipper on the side. I've shown this with a crinoline that's a bit short for it as I don't have a full length one, but imagine it with a full length! So lovely. Dress is white acetate with two layers of white tulle over it. Label reads: None. Small size, I'd say.
$ 75.00Beautiful vintage black ribbon dress circa late 1940s or early 1950s. Wiggle style with criss cross bands of narrow ribbon. Beautifully detailed neckline. Cap sleeves. darts at the bust and a few pleats at the waist. Small shoulder pads. Feels like a silk blend or rayon to me. Has a side metal zipper. Medium to smaller large size, I'd say. Unlined. No label.
$ 62.00This is a darling gingham print nylon dress from the 1940s. Super cute collar detail! A few small gathers at the skirt at the waist at either hip. Side metal zipper. A loop for a belt at both sides but alas, no belt. Medium size, I'd say. No label.
$ 135.00Beautiful classic vintage black crepe dress from the early 1940s. Simple and elegant style with that classic 1940s shape. So the wonderful design element here is that enormous bow at the hip, finishing off the band around the hips of faille. Its not really either a peplum or polonaise as its part of the actual main body of the dress instead of draping over it, but with that additional little row of loped fringe, it sort of looks like it. I adore the itty bitty little pointed collar, the fantastic looped fringe trim at the sleeve ends and again along the edge of the faille hip panel, and the two tiny pleats, well more like darts, at the center front and back of the skirt. Has a side metal zipper. Label reads: Kay Collier, Designs For Youth Medium to large size, I'd say.
$ 65.00Beautiful vintage black lace dress circa the 1940s. Wiggle style through the body opening up into a fishtail bottom, with inserts of black sheer silk-like rayon. The neckline is trimmed in ruffled, scalloped lace, the shoulder straps are about 1.5" wide and are lined with sheer mesh for more stability and strength, and there are darts at the bust. There are loops at the waist for a belt, but no belt. I thing a black velvet ribbon tied at the waist as a belt would be beautiful here. No closure, meant to pulled on. Small size, I'd say. Unlined so a slip would be in order unless you're quite a bit braver than I. No label but you can see the remains of where one once was.
$ 96.00Beautiful vintage black rayon dress from the 1940s. This dress is as amazing in front as in back. There is a Peter pan collar, with smocking underneath that nd again at the waist, and then coffin pleating in between. Beautiful wide fitted waist then a loose pleated skirt. Short sleeves with more pleats in them. Then in back is a fun keyhole opening underneath the metal zipper at the back of the neck. You could stitch that up if you wanted, and indeed it may have been originally. But I like it so much as is so I left it. There is more pleating here in back as well. And to top it all off, this darling little loose buckled half belt! Small to medium size, I'd say. No label.
$ 89.00This is a stunning dress from the 1940s, possibly later 30s in black silk velvet. Has metal zipper on the side. Smocking at either shoulder from the collar, and embroidery at the cuffs and the front of the torso in the shape of little flowers. The cutest little rosette made of lace at the left breast. This embroidery gives a slightly quilted feel to these areas. Really sweet. No label. Short puffed sleeve--like a leg-o-mutton but short- small shoulder pads. Probably a small to medium.
$ 59.00 - Sold OutLovely boucle knit dress from the 1940s. Above the wrist, blouse-y sleeves, shoulder pads, and a slightly blousey top. Feels like a rayon yarn perhaps. Not wool, its not itchy, might even be silk or a silk blend or cotton. Perfect for fall weather. Mustard yellow color. Pulls over the head and there is a zipper at the back of the neck. Unlined, no label. I'd say medium to large sized. Please see condition below.
$ 325.00Stunning 1940s wedding gown in a champagne / darker ivory satin. Absolutely beautiful! Short sleeves, shoulder pads, sweetheart neckline and princess seams, metal zipper on the side, and all these lovely flower appliques on the sleeves, bodice, down the front of the skirt and along the bottom front of the skirt. The satin on this is super soft. No label. Small size, I'd say.
$ 66.00Beautiful vintage slip from the 1940s. Winter white, with a ruffled, tiered hem. What I suspect may have happened with this dress is someone took a slip and a crinoline and sewed them together to create this full length slip. This would make such a lovely slip dress. Has a side metal zipper and the shoulder straps are adjustable. Small to medium size, I'd say. Label reads: Sears Charmode, Superior fabric, workmanship, fit, style. Feels like an acetate to me.
$ 70.00Wonderful girl scouts uniform from the 40s. Two larger hip pockets, one small breast pocket and buttons up the front. Long sleeves, and buttons at the cuffs. All the buttons bear the Girl Scout seal and I believe they are bakelite. There are two patches on the left shoulder, One says Los Angeles and the other has the troop number, 138. I believe this is cotton. The label is just wonderful. Reads: Girl Scouts, National Equipment Service, New York City, Official. Seems like an extra small to me.
$ 65.00Fantastic vintage late 40s early 50s New Look party dress in a green damask with gold flowers. She's too small for any of my dress forms so I've pinned it to Sophia ( one of my forms) here. Tank style sleeve, pleated diamond shape neckline and low back. Full skirt though not quite a full circle, metal zipper down the side. Extra small. There is no label.
$ 189.00Perfectly perfect little summer sundress from the 1940s. Stunning red flowers and butterflies on an off-white background. Velvet trim round the top of the bodice. Halter style. The bodice is lined in acetate, and the skirt is lined in something that is like a sheer organdy or organza I believe. The dress has a side metal zipper, and, ta dah! an included separate crinoline--see last photo. Cotton, I believe, and extra small to small sized. The crinoline has a hook and eye closure and the waist band is the same flower fabric, the rest is tulle. Label says : Ethel Allen Stamford. One of my favorites in the shop right now.
$ 119.00I was lucky enough to stumble across this piece of Hollywood memorabilia. This is a real 1940s prom or party dress that was used as a costume in the 1980s cult classic, Voyage of the Rock Aliens. It was worn by Pia Zadora, the female star of the film. Bodice is boned, and is strapless. Dress is opaque pink acetate covered in dust pink tulle. The tulle is embedded with sparkling bits of glitter. Ruching and tucks over the décolletage. Metal zipper on the side. I've shown this with only a very narrow crinoline so this is almost it's natural fullness. You could add one if you wanted it even fuller though the skirt is not a full circle so you would be best to have one that's not too fluffy. Label reads: None. Small size, I'd say.
$ 199.00Utterly divine vintage late 40s full length New Look party dress in deep pink roses on a cream background. This is a sheer chiffon fabric over a rayon acetate type lining. Both chiffon layer and lining feature the same floral print for twice the flower fun! 3/4 length Cuffed Dolman sleeves, the most gorgeous collar finished off with a big pussy bow. There is a matching belt that goes with this dress that I've shown in the last photo but you can also wear it without as its not attached. Utterly gorgeous! Full skirt though not quite a full circle, and I elected not to show it with a crinoline because I didn't have the right length crinoline for it, though its full enough for one. Metal zipper at the front of the waist, and then three matching fabric covered buttons up the bodice. This is the PRETTIEST dress and perfect for just about any event. Feels like cotton to me. Extra small. Label reads: Jay Thorpe, New York. Jay Thorpe was one of the best fashion shops in New York during the 20s -50s. It featured couture and designer French and in-house fashions.
$ 79.00The most adorable little dress circa 1940s or 1950s. Dark turquoise background with a dark green pattern of swirls in a semi baroque shape. Wonderful tuxedo front that you can button all the way up as I've shown or leave a button or two open, 3/4 length sleeves with button cuffs, pleated full skirt, small shoulder pads. Matching fabric belt with buckle. Dress feels like a silk or rayon blend to me. Metal zipper on the side. Buttons up the front of the bib and at the wrist cuffs with the cutest little sparkly clear buttons that each have a tiny diamante in the center. with matching fabric covered buttons, topped with a tiny bow at the back of the neck. Small sized, I'd say. No label, there was once, but its been cut out. Why oh why did they do that?
$ 30.00Beautiful vintage slip from the 1940s. Tooo small for my dress forms so I've pinned her to one.Snow white with three delicate ruffled tiers at the very bottom hem. This would make such a lovely slip dress. Pulls over the head and the shoulder straps are adjustable. Small size, I'd say. Label reads: Snip It Slip. Celanese Clairanese Acetate Taffeta. And there's a size of 32, but do check the measurements as vintage sizing is not the same as modern.
$ 25.00Lovely little white cotton Christening or baptism dress. Wee little buttons in the back. Absolutely beautiful lace bib. Cuffed sleeves trimmed in the same lace as round the neck. The bottom of the skirt is embroidered. Empire waist.
$ 65.00Gorgeous black faille cocktail dress from about the 1950s. Wiggle dress style, sleeveless, with a scoop neck in front and lower V neck in back. That lovely big bow at the waist! Has metal zipper down the back. Label reads: Molly Modes, New York and there is a size label that says 14 but that's vintage sizing, which is not the same as modern so please refer to the measurements below. Id say this is in the medium range.
$ 75.00Beautiful vintage black lace dress circa 1950s. Wiggle style with pretty opening at the neckline and a dramatic V back. Has a side metal zipper. Fully lined in what feels like a black rayon faille. Small size, I'd say. No label.
$ 169.00Beyond beautiful black dress from the 1950s. The silkiest, liquid silk satin. Like a raven's wing. In the right light there's a hint of a blue sheen even, its that black. Fitted bodice with a slightly dropped waist. Princess seams, full skirt though not quite a full circle and you can see my very full crinoline is a bit too much for it, sleeveless and the shoulders are meant to be worn wide. Metal zipper up the back. I'd say small to medium sized. No label but made very well. Whomever made this even put a bit of blue grosgrain ribbon inside the waist horizontally which, I believe, is meant to keep the seams from pulling as its quite form fitted. Smart! Its not all the way round though, there are some long ends hanging inside so I think someone else unstitched part of it off at some point. You'll see it. Doesn't affect the exterior at all.
$ 139.00Fantastic vintage late 50s/ early 60s New Look party dress in dusty blush lace over an opaque blush lining. Illusion neckline with rhinestones embellishments in clusters on the bodice and then scattered all over the rest of the dress. And that gorgeous taupe-y cummerbund into a HUGE bow in the back. Full skirt though not a full circle, cap sleeves, metal zipper in back. No label but there is the remnants of a lot label so there probably was a designer label at one time. Probably in the medium size range I'd say. Oh, has sweat guards too so yay for that.
