This is a stunning dress from the earliest 1930s in the softest, most delicious, black silk velvet. It is too small for my dress forms so I pinned her to show her shape. Look at that gorgeous antiqued gold tone beading round the neckline! There is a ruched ribbon of black velvet going down the bib of the bodice which is echoed at the sleeve cuffs. The cuffs have hook and eye closures. There is an asymmetrical waist seam for a bohemian, gypsy feel. There is no opening in this dress ( no zipper or snaps or anything, it merely pulls over the head) so do be sure you have room to get into it, per the measurements. There is the tiniest of labels that reads: Cash's, and then a scattering of small labels with numbers on them, various sizes I suppose. Extra small to small I'd say.

Excellent vintage condition. There are three pinhead sized holes at the back of the neck...probably where a label came off, and the nap of the velvet has worn thin at the shoulders. And then there is a seam in the front center of the neckline between the two bits of beading.. its slightly not straight and seems a bit rougher than the other seams, but there are two snaps right at the top of it on the inside of the bodice and there are signs of missing snaps further up both sides. As though something is supposed to attach to there, perhaps a modesty panel, and someone decided to ditch the panel and simply sew it up. It doesn't affect the structure or stability, and with the other seams going on there it mostly blends right in.

I do my utmost best to list any issues, but signs of wear should be expected, and there are occasionally small things I won't deem worthy of note. Please feel free to send me a missive with any questions. I'm truly happy to help in any way possible and I'm always up for a chat.
