$ 219.00 - Sold OutBeyond beautiful black dress from the later 1940s, or early 1950s. Makes me think of a Black Swan. The most amazing bodice with a black velvet modesty panel across the bust and then black lace and velvet straps over the shoulders. The velvet carries all down the back to a bow at the waist and extra long ends hanging down the skirt. Just gorgeous! Almost a full circle skirt. Has metal zipper on the side. No label. A lovely larger size, and great for a taller girl too! Yay! It's just a hair too big for me or I'd have kept this one for sure.
$ 65.00Fantastic vintage late 40s early 50s New Look party dress in a green damask with gold flowers. She's too small for any of my dress forms so I've pinned it to Sophia ( one of my forms) here. Tank style sleeve, pleated diamond shape neckline and low back. Full skirt though not quite a full circle, metal zipper down the side. Extra small. There is no label.
$ 140.00Fantastic vintage late 40s/ early 50s New Look party dress in salmon pink lace over an opaque salmon acetate lining. Comes with a matching belt. Full skirt, mid length, short dolman sleeves that are gathered down the length, metal zipper on the side. This is such a pretty dress and perfect for just about any event. Label reads: Jack Kopp, California. Probably in the medium size range.
$ 79.00The most adorable little dress circa 1940s or 1950s. Dark turquoise background with a dark green pattern of swirls in a semi baroque shape. Wonderful tuxedo front that you can button all the way up as I've shown or leave a button or two open, 3/4 length sleeves with button cuffs, pleated full skirt, small shoulder pads. Matching fabric belt with buckle. Dress feels like a silk or rayon blend to me. Metal zipper on the side. Buttons up the front of the bib and at the wrist cuffs with the cutest little sparkly clear buttons that each have a tiny diamante in the center. with matching fabric covered buttons, topped with a tiny bow at the back of the neck. Small sized, I'd say. No label, there was once, but its been cut out. Why oh why did they do that?
$ 89.00Delicious black quilted full skirt circa late 40s or early 50s. Look at that darling novelty print in all the primary colors of country icons such as little flowers, chickens, people and bells. Fully lined with what feels to me like an ivory muslin. Gives its a lot of shape, weight and texture on its own, but I've shown it with an added crinoline that's not included. Tons of hem if you want to let it down. Buttons at the waist and a metal zipper. Waistband is lined in black satin. No label. Small to medium size, I'd say.
$ 169.00Beyond beautiful black dress from the 1950s. The silkiest, liquid silk satin. Like a raven's wing. In the right light there's a hint of a blue sheen even, its that black. Fitted bodice with a slightly dropped waist. Princess seams, full skirt though not quite a full circle and you can see my very full crinoline is a bit too much for it, sleeveless and the shoulders are meant to be worn wide. Metal zipper up the back. I'd say small to medium sized. No label but made very well. Whomever made this even put a bit of blue grosgrain ribbon inside the waist horizontally which, I believe, is meant to keep the seams from pulling as its quite form fitted. Smart! Its not all the way round though, there are some long ends hanging inside so I think someone else unstitched part of it off at some point. You'll see it. Doesn't affect the exterior at all.
$ 86.00 - Sold OutIncredibly darling blue roses print fit and flare sun dress from the 1950s. Sleeveless, pleated waist , scoop neckline and a shirtwaist bodice with oversize pearlized buttons. This is just the cutest Summer dress. Extra large or larger size for sure, it's pinned to my dress form to show the shape. I've shown her with a crinoline under but she is just as sweet without and left to be loose and casual. No label. Feels like a rayon or poly or something similar.
$ 64.00Interesting and lovely milk chocolate brown illusion lace dress. I'm dating this as 50s, but it may be 40s. I believe this was meant to be an overdress on top of another layer, due to the placement of the closure. It has one hook and eye which are positioned in such a way as to leave it open in front. However, if one were to add another hook to the inside and an eye to the waist on the outside, it would make a PERFECT wrap dress. I've tried it on myself and it works beautifully. I will leave that decision up to you. This is lined in an ivory acetate. Dolman style cap ( barely) sleeve, and a full skirt ( it would work great with a crinoline, I just didn't show it here with one). No label. I'd say, depending on if you want to wear it open as shown over an under layer, or as a wrap it would fit anything from a medium to an extra large.
$ 86.00Absolutely gorgeous 1950s batik print dress in greens and teals. Metal zipper up the back, full pleated skirt. Interesting squared off neckline, and short sleeves that are gathered with elastic at the cuff. I've seen a dress that looks like this dress's twin but in a brown batik and with sleeves that were un-gathered. based on that and my knowledge of 50s dresses, plus the way the elstic is installed, I'm going to hazard a guess that the elastic was added later. Gorgeous pleating and princess seams. Belt loops though no belt. Cotton, I believe. Small to medium size, I'd say. The print on this is just phenomenal. No label, though there is a Union Made Label.
$ 80.00Absolutely gorgeous 1950s abstract print dress. purples and browns and blacks on a dark greyish background. There's something vaguely ethnic about this print too. Metal zipper up the back, full pleated skirt and bodice. Gorgeous pleating everywhere. The entire dress is just loads and loads of pleats.. Belt loops though no belt. Cotton or a cotton blend, I believe. Medium to a smaller large size, I'd say. Label reads: A Tucker Grossman Design.
$ 99.00 - Sold OutPerfect harlequin pattern in two shades of cheerful green on a white background. Classic fit and flare shirtwaist style. Buttons up the front in pearly gold, snaps at the waist. The sleeves can be left down but would be even better cuffed. Pleated full skirt. No label but it looks like there was one once. About a medium size, I'd say. Thread loops for a belt but no belt alas. Looks and feels like rayon or similar.
$ 159.00I just about died when I came across this dress. Gorgeous navy blue satin from the 1950s. Ballerina style bodice, fitted, princess seams, with small cap sleeves, scoop neckline. Lower dropped waist that dis down even lower in back and with that utterly divine "bustle-like" gathering of fabric all round. There is a metal zipper up the back. No label though I suspect there may have been one once, either that or this was made by a very, very talented home seamstress. In the small range I'd say.
$ 129.00Stunning fit and flare party dress from the 1950s. Peacock blue ( its even prettier than in the photos) chiffon over a dusty lavender acetate under layer. Phenomenal pleated shawl collar. Full skirt- the lining underneath is not a full circle but the chiffon appears to be, or very close. Metal zipper up the back. Label reads: Elinor Gay Original. Small size, I'd say. There are thread loops for a belt but no belt alas.
$ 129.00Fantastic vintage 50s New Look party dress in a red roses print on white. Capped Dolman sleeve, pleated neckline and skirt gathered at the waist. There is a matching cummerbund belt that goes with that I've shown here but you can also wear it without as its not attached. Utterly gorgeous! Full skirt though not quite a full circle, metal zipper down the back. This is the PRETTIEST dress and perfect for just about any event. Feels like cotton to me. Extra small. Label reads: Connie Sage Sub Teens Exclusively.
$ 42.00Very pretty black and white checked late 40s, early 1950s shirtwaist dress. I believe this is a rayon or something similar. Classic shirtwaist fabric covered buttons up the front, long, dolman, sleeves with cuffs. I've shown them both cuffed and uncuffed. Pockets at either hip. Label reads "Nelson-Caine" . About a medium, I'd say.
$ 89.00Beautiful lemon yellow party dress from the 1950s. This may have been a bottom layer with a sheer or lace top layer that is no longer with us. But its perfect all by itself. Full skirt with a darling wide ruffled flounce at the bottom. Tight bodice with supportive bust area with the slightest bullet shape. Spaghetti straps. Metal zipper up the side. No label. Small to medium size I'd say but it does have a little bit of a bigger waist.
$ 86.00Absolutely gorgeous early 1960s dress in peacock blue felt. Metal zipper up the back, full skirt. High neckline, and sleeveless style. And of cpurse the utterly charming extra large pearlized buttons up the front. Princess seams. Belt loops though no belt. Small to medium size, I'd say. No label, though there is a Lot # Label.
$ 62.00 - Sold OutPretty vintage 1960s nylon dress. Seafoam green background with a floral print in lavenders, yellows, greens and tangerines. Princess seams, sleeveless, zipper up the back ( not metal). Full skirt, though not a complete circle as you can see from the photos. I'd say in the medium to large size range. No label.
$ 128.00 - Sold OutStunning black silk chiffon cocktail or party dress from the early 1960s. Fit and flare style with the skirt fully pleated all the way round the waist. Gorgeous shawl collar draped at the front. Fully lined. Loops for a belt but no belt. Skirt is almost a full circle. Metal zipper up the back. Label reads: Miss Elliette California. PLEASE NOTE: The photo of the back shows a gap near the waist, that is NOT a flaw or a deliberate keyhole, its just that this dress was a HAIR too small for my dress form, Lola, so I pinned it on and left the gap. The zipper works great and it is solid across the back. Oh,, and the faded look in one of the photos is just light in my camera, the dress is crisp black.
