Charming black straw hat from the 1950s. Has a very long hat pin through the brim! The hat pin is 7" long and topped with a round black head. One could really do some damage with that pin! Theres a velvet rope ribbon round the band with a bow at one side. Theres also another bow at the opposite side of the head but its on the exterior of the brim not on the band. From this second bow a length of velvet rope hangs. I am not sure how it was originally supposed to look like, if it were supposed to wrap all around the brim the way the other wraps round the band, or if it were perhaps meant to hang under the chin and be attached to the other side? Not sure, but its been cut. Ive chosen to leave it as is, so you can choose what you wish to do. I'd probably just trim it off if it were me. Label inside reads Eva Mae, and there is a second label that says New York Creation, MFG under Fair Labor Standards, Consumer Protection. Grosgrain ribbon round the inside. Measures 20.5" round the inside.
Excellent vintage condition. The only thing to note apart from the velvet rope as mentioned above s that it could do with a steaming to get its crisp shape back, and I did spy the slightest little color fade under about a two inch area of brim.
