Beautiful baby christening dress in white cotton made in 1912. French seams, lace trim, beautiful embroidery. High neckline, sleeves trimmed in crochet lace. Two tiny buttons in back. And the absolute neatest thing about this is the small cloth tag lightly stitched to the front on which someone has written "Christening dress worn by William A Johnson Jr, June 1912, & Wallis June 1917, and Rosalta A Johnson , Mar 1943. Made by Grace L Johnson". The tag just has a few loose stitches tacking it to the dress so it would be very easily removed should you wish to. What a wonderful bit of history!
Great to excellent vintage condition. The skirt portion of this is excellent mostly, just a smattering of tiny pinholes. The bodice also is excellent. The sleeves have a bit more issues. They are quite threadbare and have worn into holes in several places, especially at the seams. I'd probably just remove them if I wanted to use this. Or it would be lovey as display as is or a pattern or to upcycle.
Measurements: doubled at bust, waist and hip. This is meant to be easy fitting.
Armpit to armpit across bust: 24"
Armpit to shoulder: 4.5"
Shoulder to bottom hem: 29"
