Utterly charming dress from the 40s perhaps early 50s. I love the mix of horizontal and vertical stripes. Has two breast pockets with decorative flaps and buttons Speaking of, the buttons are darling. I believe they are an early plastic, perhaps celluloid. I dont think bakelite, but I haven't tested so not sure on that. Short sleeves. Buttons to the waist and a size metal zipper. Belt loops but no belt. Small to medium sized. No label.
Excellent vintage condition. The only real thing to note is the nickel sized smudge at one shoulder, see photo. Looks like oil or grease of some sort, so perhaps with more assertive cleaning it would come out? or at least fade? I wasn't brave enough to risk more than a basic clean. There is one pinhead sized hole but a previous owner reinforced that with some patching on the underside so its ok there. Otherwise Ive seen a couple spots where a seam needed a few stitches so I'm going round doing that but if I miss one, forgive me.
Measurements when lying flat. Doubled at bust, waist and hip
Armpit to armpit across bust: 39"
Shoulder to waist: 16"
Shoulder to bottom hem: 47"
