Gorgeous 1940s black cord'e bag from Roum. How to describe cord'e? Its kind of like a soutache, I suppose, but specifically it's cord covered with silk or rayon all looped together to create a pattern. There is a metal zipper across the top of the center compartment but there are three main compartments altogether. Inside is the one zipper compartment is a small narrow pouch for, perhaps a comb or cards. There are two shortish shoulder or arm straps also covered in cord'e. Hanging from one of these is a clip of what I suspect is pewter in the shape of two clasping hands that was, if my memory is correct, intended to hold a hanky. It was not original to the bag but I am keeping it with it as thats how it came to me and I do adore those signs of life and love. Its just a gorgeous bag. Label treads: Genuine Cord'e, By Roum, Made in California. Will ship flat. Approx 13" wide at the widest when flat and 6" tall not including strap.
Excellent vintage condition. Very little signs of its age. The zipper works great, the interior has minor signs of age, and the strap seems secure.
Please note: These are vintage, preworn and/or preloved items. I do my utmost best to list any issues, but signs of wear should be expected, and there are occasionally small things I won't deem worthy of note. Please feel free to send me a missive with any questions. I'm truly happy to help in any way possible and I'm always up for a chat.
