Vintage 1940s Day Dress in a Yellow Sunflower Print
Charming mustard yellow dress from the 40s with a solid colored skirt and a print of abstract sunflowers with blue centers on the bodice. Pleated skirt, wool padded shoulders. Nipped in tailored waist. Small size, I'd say. Really lovely lines. Bodice feels like a barkcloth or similar. Skirt is probably nylon. By the way, if it looks like one sleeve is longer than the other, its not, silly me just forgot to roll the seam under on the one side as its supposed to be and as it is on the shorter looking side. No label, but there is a handwritten name on one of the inside seams that reads: Henninger. Probably a previous owner, I just love those tidbits of history!
Great to excellent vintage condition. Totally structurally sound. No problems there at all. There are a smattering of tan spots on one shoulder, about pinhead sized and one more on the other shoulder. You could pin a big flower to that one shoulder and hide most of them. Very era appropriate and would be so charming! The skirt has two or three pinhead sized holes, mostly lost in the volume of fabric here. Over all, I'd say closer to excellent condition.
Measurements taken lying flat. Doubled at bust, waist and hip. Shoulder to shoulder: 14.5" Bust: 34" Waist: 25" to 26" Hip: free Shoulder to natural waist: 14.5" Shoulder to bottom hem: 40"
