Vintage 1940s Dress With Jacket In Navy Blue Rayon
This is exquisite. 1940s rayon dress in dark navy blue with ivory lace trim and a matching little jacket. Lightly puffed short sleeves, smocking at both shoulders. Flat front through the hips then pleated all the way down. Metal zipper on the side and two hidden snaps at the front neckline where the lace is. The buttons there are all decorative. The jacket has shoulder pads and short sleeves trimmed in the same lace. Small to possibly a smaller medium sized, I'd say. This is one of my more fortunate finds. It came from the collection of a Hollywood costume designer who collected vintage pieces her whole life. This was the going away outfit from her mother in law's wedding and based on her telling of its history it was only worn the one time and then stored--immaculately, I might add--since then. It is literally in mint condition. The dress has no label, the jacket does and it says: An original design registered by a member of Fashion Originators Guild, which was disbanded in 1941.
Excellent, near mint, vintage condition.
