Wonderful vintage cookbook from the 1960s. "The Gourmet Cookbook, Volume Two" edited by Gourmet Magazine and published by Gourmet Distributing Corporation. This book was given to someone unnamed as a gift and signed by a bunch of their friends in May 1962. Their little notes are still very legible on the flyleaf and are charming to read. In addition, the owner of this book marked several pages with little scraps of paper and at least one old newspaper or magazine recipe, which I've left because to me it adds so much charm and life. The original text was published in 1957, and this edition in 1961. It measures about 7.5" x 10.25". Its quite heavy, about 4 lbs. Shipping reflects this.
Good vintage condition. Generally speaking. The spine is a bit loose and some of the first and last pages are coming away a bit inside, but nothing terribly dramatic. There are your standard dings and marks to the cover that are common with older books and someone, probably the owner's child, scribbled with brown crayon on the flyleaf. The actual recipe pages seem to be still very much intact though slightly yellowed with age. This is a charming addition to any cook's library!
Please note that many of my items are vintage and/or made using vintage materials. I do my best to list any major issues but some signs of life and love are to be expected and only add to their charm.
