Absolutely stunning antique coverlet quilt by The Craig Family Weavers from Decatur County, Indiana. Navy blue and cream cotton wool blend double jacquard that is completely reversible ,with the exception being the date is backwards on the darker side, with the lily motif border and courthouse signature corners with the weaving date of 1844 in it. Also has their typical seam down the center as it would have been woven in two strips. Approx full to queen bed size at 80" wide by 95" long. Fringe along one end, hemmed at the other. The Craig family were one of Indiana's best known weavers having come there via Scotland. I do have quite a bit more history on both the Weavers and this particular quilt including it's original owner. Please don't hesitate to ask if interested!
Will be shipped insured.
Excellent vintage condition. It does have some mild foxing in a few spots and some very mild wear considering it's age. Still perfectly useable and gorgeous! See photos for examples.
