$ 75.00This is probably the prettiest vintage book I have right now. Its hardbound in soft fawn colored leather. It has gold embossing on the front with the initials RC and the name Kelly Anthony. The original text was published in 1752, and this edition in 1925. This is a limited edition with only 1000 sets. Its about 6.5" x9.5" and about 400 pages if you include the introductory notes and preface. This copy is numbered 939. A very, very special book, and something that should be displayed.
$ 25.00This is an absolutely fantastic old cooking book, written from a mother for her daughters. Its a fascinating read for anyone with a culinary bent and includes a fun introduction by what I can only assume was the original publisher as it's not credited.
$ 14.00Sweet copy of George Long's translation of The Discourses of Epictetus, Volume Two. Published in New York by Scott-Thaw. Copyright 1893 ( though clearly that's when this volume was actually printed. It appears to be more like sometime in the 1900s. No actual printing date for this edition is given). This book is marvelous due to the unusual way its pages are bound. The pages were printed several to one sheet of paper then folded into position. The top edge of the pages were not ever completely cut so many are still together at the top. Its really a fascinating view of an older way of printing books. The pages edges are also all deckled. And the paper is a fine linen. I adore this little book!
$ 22.00All Longfellow's best poems, collected in this one volume. Still has the dust jacket, and its held up fairly well, though as you can see it has some dings, and someone got part of it wet at some point. What you can't see that is kind of interesting is that someone wrote what seems to be a journal entry or essay or a copy of something else on the inside of the dust jacket in pencil.
$ 12.00The classic by Louisa May Alcott, this edition published in 1940. It has some issues, the cover along the spine had apparently fallen off and been reglued. The front cover and back cover look to be in danger of meeting a similar fate. The pages are all in good shape, though yellowed with age.
