Vintage 1920s Black Silk Chiffon Dress

Stunning 1920s dress in beautiful black silk chiffon. There is the chiffon top layer with short sleeves ending in fluttery cuffs and with a fluttery ruffle at the bottom hem. Under that is a more opaque lining in something that couple possibly be a viscose? Or something similar? Either way, its gorgeous and drapes beautifully. At the top of the bodice the under layer has a deep V in front and slightly shallower V in back which is then lined in beige silk chiffon and trimmed in black lace for a dramatic neckline. There is a grosgrain "belt" attached at the "low" waist in black and beige. There is no opening in this dress, it merely pulls over the head. No label. Definitely large to extra large. I've pinned it to dress form to show its shape.

Excellent vintage condition. For it's age and the delicacy of the fabric this is in remarkable shape. The only real thing to note is the inner beige chiffon at the bodice has some shattering.  See photo for the worst of this. Its wearable as is, but in time I believe that beige will give up the ghost. It could be removed or replaced if you like. At some point in its later life, someone added armpit protectors to this and we can thank them for that because the armpits are nearly perfect. Unusual for silk this old! The protectors themselves are vintage though not as old as the dress of course, and they are pretty stiff.

Measurements when lying flat. Doubled at bust, waist and hip
Armpit to armpit across bust: 47"
Waist: at the belt, loose but up to 48""
Hips: free up to 57" ish

Shoulder to waist: 17"
Shoulder to bottom hem: 45"
