Vintage 1950s Black Silk Taffeta Cocktail Dress With Pink Silk Corset

Utterly stunning 1950s black taffeta dress ( silk I believe but I have not tested it) with 3/4 sleeve, deep V neck in front and a slim skirt with slit in back. It has a pink silk corset/bodice piece underneath that has a bow at one side that just peeks out from under the black. They look like separate pieces but they are not quite, there are stitches holing them together inside. They do each have their ow metal zippers in the back though for ease in getting in and out. Now, as if all that wasn't enough, it also has hip pockets!!! No designer label. There is a small tag on the pink bodice that says, All Silk. I'm not 100% sure if this refers only to the pink or also to the black, but I do suspect both. I'd say this is in the medium range.

Excellent, near mint, vintage condition on the black part, good to great on the pink part. I have seen nothing on the black dress to mention. The pink silk has a few things to note. The worst is that the armpits are fairly smudged and the straps right where they attach to the bodice are fairly worn. Could be shored up with some coordinating ribbon and you'd be fine because you can't see it when worn. I've shown a photo of the worst of the two armpits here. There are a few tan pindots though in the very front of the pink bodice-see photo for this as well.

Measurements when lying flat. Doubled at bust, waist and hip. This dress has lots of seam allowance, you could easily let out out a couple inches if need be.

Pink Corset Bodice:
Bust Armpit to Armpit: 40"
Waist: 30" but barely


Black Dress:
Armpit to armpit across bust: 42"
Waist: 32"
Hips: 42"
Shoulder to bottom hem: 43.5"
