$ 129.00Fantastic vintage 50s New Look party dress in red with black lace bodice and hem. Utterly gorgeous! Full skirt, mid length, spaghetti straps that tie together on the shoulder, metal zipper down the back. This is the PRETTIEST dress and perfect for just about any event. Small to extra small size range. This dress HAD a label, but someone at some point in time cut it out, so your guess is as good as mine as to who designed it. They had talent though!
$ 89.00Simply gorgeous Emma Domb silk cocktail dress in a lovely salmon color silk. Beautiful horizontal pleats around the torso. Fully lined. Zipper down the back, short cap sleeves.
$ 69.00Stunning cocktail party wiggle dress from the 1960s. Amazing color and so soft! Satin, with black plastic button front, two pockets and applique details. Side zipper ( not metal) as well as the buttons down the front makes it really easy to get into. This is a larger size ( I've pinned it to fit the dress form).
$ 69.00Beautiful lemon yellow 60s maxi dress. Would be darling shortened! Has a matching tie belt. Taffeta with a slight floral pattern to the fabric. The skirt is fully lined.
$ 39.00Lovely black silk velvet dress from the 30s. They just don't make velvet like this anymore. Its so soft and fine. This is a very simple cut, below the knee, V neck with matching velvet buttons, and some smocking at the shoulders and a bit below the bust. long sleeves that snap at the cuff. Snaps at the side, loops for a belt but no belt anymore alas. Smaller size I'd say. No label. Please see condition below as this dress has some issues.
$ 24.00I love the lavender-ey pink color of this pretty party dress. Its circa 1950s or early 60s. Would have had a little bolero jacket or top over the bodice and the hooks for that are still there. Its too small for my dress form by a bit so it's pinned in back but the zipper works great. This is an opaque layer of acetate or rayon with a sheer chiffon that feels like a poly maybe over the top. Full skirt but not a full circle, would be great with a crinoline, which I have not shown it with here. Sleeveless, wide waistband with a pellon lining to help it hold its shape. Zipper in the back. No label. Please see condition below as it has some issues. Small size, I'd say. Or extra small.
$ 49.00Just stunning New Old Stock dress with originals labels and tags, circa late 50s or early 60s. Rayon velvet bodice with tank style straps. Skirt is silk organza. Medium size I'd say. Label says: Renoir Originals, For Talls. Please see condition below.
$ 210.00If you know vintage designers you'll know why this dress is priced as it is regardless of its issues. This is a Ceil Chapman, designer to Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Deborah Kerr among many many others. This is from the 1950s. Beautiful goldish satin taffeta base covered in ivory tulle and utterly dripping in faux pearl beads and sequins with rhinestone centers. Its stunning. There's just no other word for it. There is a layer of tulle along the inside bottom hem, about the last ten inches, to give the hem some shape and movement. There is a metal zipper on the side. Two labels. One reads Ceil Chapman of course. That's on the side. The one behind the neck reads Hollywood, Wilkes Barre, PA. Please read condition below as this ha some issues.
$ 28.00Fantastic vintage 50 wiggle dress in black crepe. Short sleeves, metal zipper in back, and a cute rolled waist with two little bows in front. No Label. This dress is still very cute but does have issues, thus being in my scratch and dent section. Please see below.
$ 25.00Fantastic vintage 50 wiggle dress in silk satin damask with silver embroidery and gold velvet soutache. This is a true wiggle as there is no split in the skirt. Sleeveless tank style with a low v back. Fully lined in silk. She's too small for my dress forms so I've pinned her on. There is no specific designer label but it does have a label that says it was "Made In British Crown Colony of Hong Kong" This dress is still wearable but does have issues, thus being in my scratch and dent section. Please see below.
$ 30.00Beautiful baby dress in white cotton circa early 1900s. French seams, two real shell buttons in the back. High empire waist, short cap sleeves made of fluttery handkerchief edged swiss dot trim. There are rows of pintucking all round the bottom of the skirt and then gorgeous cutwork below that. Delicate lace at the neck. Just beautiful!
$ 219.00This is a stunning dress from the 1920s, possibly early 30s in the softest, most delicious, black silk velvet. It is tooo small for my dress forms so I pinned her to show her shape. Look at that gorgeous antiqued gold tone beading round the neckline! There is a ruched ribbon of black velvet going down the bib of the bodice which is echoed at the sleeve cuffs. The cuffs have hook and eye closures. There is a slight drop waist with an asymmetrical waist seam for a bohemian, gypsy feel. There is no opening in this dress ( no zipper or snaps or anything, it merely pulls over the head) so do be sure you have room to get into it, per the measurements. There is the tiniest of labels at the back that reads: Cash's, and then a scattering of small labels with numbers on them, various sizes I suppose. Extra small to small I'd say.
$ 30.00Beautiful white cotton girls smock or over dress. This would most likley have been worn over a slip underneath. Longer sleeves with beautiful scalloped cuffs. Pintucking and cutwork lace at the collar then that's trimmed in the same scalloped trim as the cuffs. Empire waist, very high. Two tiny buttons at the back of the neck then its open all down the back. The bottom hem is pintucked all the way round in several rows. Its just gorgeous. I'd say this is for a slightly older baby, but do please see the measurements as child sizing is not my forte.
$ 179.00Drop waisted, easy fit, divine navy rayon crepe, this 1920s dress has it all. Buttons up the front with gold buttons that I actually suspect are quite a bit older than the dress itself. Gorgeous coffin pleats all round the skirt, short cuffed sleeves, mandarin style collar, and oh those buttons! About a medium size I'd say, and have I mentioned those great buttons?
$ 99.00Absolutely wonderful and charming 1920s day dress. White rayon top with a deep V neck ( someone added a snap at some point for modesty to hold this closed) bordered in a white and blackish-green trim. There's a line of horizontal pintucking all round the bottom of the bodice. The skirt is a black crepe and just has wonderful pleating and pintucking both front and back. There's so much to love about this dress. Sleeveless, dropwaist, easy comfortable fit, and so so cute! Label reads: None. About a medium to large. Please see condition as this beauty does have some issues.
$ 86.00Beautiful vintage black crepe dress from the late 30s, or early 1940s. This dress has an amazing bodice in front as it has interesting pleats from the shoulders towards the collarbone and soft dolman short sleeves that give it a flutter look without the flutter sleeves. But what makes this dress extra cool is the bodice in back. That gorgeous box pleat with the keyhole peekaboo neckline above all topped off with two pearlized round buttons! How perfect with a gorgeous updo! And don't miss the darling pleats on the skirt in back too. Has a side metal zipper and there are thread loops for a belt but no belt. Small to medium size, I'd say.
$ 89.00Oh how I wish this fit me. Beautiful vintage black crepe dress from the late 30s, or early 1940s. I adore the body hugging fit and the slightly raised collar and cuffed sleeves. The sleeves are 3/4, and the skirt is a straight pencil style. Has a side metal zipper and there is a matching belt that is sewn on at either side. . Small to extra small, I'd say. No label.
$ 89.00Beautiful vintage black crepe dress from the late 30s, or early 1940s. Take a look at that divine bodice design with the mesh panel in the décolletage, the swooping "upside down" collar and the fabric covered buttons. There is a nude nylon panel behind that mesh for modesty as well, by the way and an elastic band that one can bring up over the back of the neck to help the front hold it's shape. The sleeves are 3/4, it is slightly drop waisted and the skirt is a straight pencil style with a wonderful additional panel down the front that swings out when one walks. Has a side metal zipper and there are thread loops for a belt but no belt. Small to medium size, I'd say. Label says " International Original, New York".
$ 72.00This is a darling floral print cotton dress from the 1930s. Short sleeves with just a bit of pouf at the shoulder. Pleating at the skirt at the waist. Side snap and one hook and eye. Fun watercolor floral print of blues and yellows and browns on a light background. Mediumish size. No label.
$ 219.00Beyond beautiful black dress from the later 1940s, or early 1950s. Makes me think of a Black Swan. The most amazing bodice with a black velvet modesty panel across the bust and then black lace and velvet straps over the shoulders. The velvet carries all down the back to a bow at the waist and extra long ends hanging down the skirt. Just gorgeous! Almost a full circle skirt. Has metal zipper on the side. No label. A lovely larger size, and great for a taller girl too! Yay! It's just a hair too big for me or I'd have kept this one for sure.
$ 149.00Beautiful black rayon dress from the later 1940s, or early 1950s. Full circle skirt. Slightly blouse-y bodice with a neckline that's sewn in such a way as to make it look somewhat twisted. The shoulder straps tie so its nice and adjustable as far as length there goes. Has metal zipper on the side. No label. Probably a small to medium.
$ 219.00Beyond beautiful black dress from the later 1940s, or early 1950s. I wish wish, wish I had a dress form small enough for this so you could get the real feel for it, but it's too small so I've had to pin it. Hopefully that will be enough. Its utterly divine. The most amazing bullet shape bodice just full of gorgeous beading all round the bust front and back and then soft black tulle over the shoulders. Fantastic gather at the hip on one side and then this fall of liquid black silk satin skirt which has a small rounded cornered slit on one side. Has metal zipper on the side, but curiously on the right, not the left as usual, and yes, I've made sure which side is front and back. No label, probably homemade though very, very well by an excellent seamstress, but that may explain the zipper.
$ 46.00This is such a cute dress. Pink with white trim at sleeve cuffs and neckline and at the top of the hip pockets. Cute little white stitching is a nice touch too. This is from the later 40s or early 50s. Has a side metal zipper, and a snap at the front of the bodice where a modesty panel was added to give it a semi sailor look. Its linen, I believe, but doesn't wrinkle that much so probably a blend with something else. Label reads: None. A larger size too!
$ 129.00This stunner is a 1940s or 50s prom or party dress that looks like it could have been ( but wasn't) a ballerina's dress for Swan Lake. It was certainly inspired by it! Bodice is boned, and is strapless, and is covered in loosely gathered white tulle. Then those "wings" across the bust! To die. Beautifully studded with rhinestones or diamantes. Metal zipper on the side. I've shown this with a crinoline that's a bit short for it as I don't have a full length one, but imagine it with a full length! So lovely. Dress is white acetate with two layers of white tulle over it. Label reads: None. Small size, I'd say.
$ 75.00Beautiful vintage black ribbon dress circa late 1940s or early 1950s. Wiggle style with criss cross bands of narrow ribbon. Beautifully detailed neckline. Cap sleeves. darts at the bust and a few pleats at the waist. Small shoulder pads. Feels like a silk blend or rayon to me. Has a side metal zipper. Medium to smaller large size, I'd say. Unlined. No label.
$ 149.00This is a stunning party dress from the 1940s in black velvet. Has metal zipper on the side. Absolutely darling neckline and sleeves with scalloped edges. label reads: Betty Brief. Slightly dolman sleeve, small shoulder pads. This is either a silk or a rayon velvet, so soft!!! Thread loops for a belt but alas no belt. My trick is too use grosgrain ( or velvet) ribbon in whatever color you like to create a tie on belt! Probably a small to medium
$ 62.00This is a darling gingham print nylon dress from the 1940s. Super cute collar detail! A few small gathers at the skirt at the waist at either hip. Side metal zipper. A loop for a belt at both sides but alas, no belt. Medium size, I'd say. No label.
$ 135.00Beautiful classic vintage black crepe dress from the early 1940s. Simple and elegant style with that classic 1940s shape. So the wonderful design element here is that enormous bow at the hip, finishing off the band around the hips of faille. Its not really either a peplum or polonaise as its part of the actual main body of the dress instead of draping over it, but with that additional little row of loped fringe, it sort of looks like it. I adore the itty bitty little pointed collar, the fantastic looped fringe trim at the sleeve ends and again along the edge of the faille hip panel, and the two tiny pleats, well more like darts, at the center front and back of the skirt. Has a side metal zipper. Label reads: Kay Collier, Designs For Youth Medium to large size, I'd say.
$ 65.00Beautiful vintage black lace dress circa the 1940s. Wiggle style through the body opening up into a fishtail bottom, with inserts of black sheer silk-like rayon. The neckline is trimmed in ruffled, scalloped lace, the shoulder straps are about 1.5" wide and are lined with sheer mesh for more stability and strength, and there are darts at the bust. There are loops at the waist for a belt, but no belt. I thing a black velvet ribbon tied at the waist as a belt would be beautiful here. No closure, meant to pulled on. Small size, I'd say. Unlined so a slip would be in order unless you're quite a bit braver than I. No label but you can see the remains of where one once was.
$ 96.00Beautiful vintage black rayon dress from the 1940s. This dress is as amazing in front as in back. There is a Peter pan collar, with smocking underneath that nd again at the waist, and then coffin pleating in between. Beautiful wide fitted waist then a loose pleated skirt. Short sleeves with more pleats in them. Then in back is a fun keyhole opening underneath the metal zipper at the back of the neck. You could stitch that up if you wanted, and indeed it may have been originally. But I like it so much as is so I left it. There is more pleating here in back as well. And to top it all off, this darling little loose buckled half belt! Small to medium size, I'd say. No label.
$ 68.00Beautiful vintage black rayon dress from the 1940s. This dress is as amazing in front as in back. The bodice is a shiny silky fabric that could actually have some silk in it, patterned with large spiral-ey circles. Short sleeves and dramatic shoulder pads. V neck and smocking at the shoulders. The skirt has four tiers separated with large horizontal pintucks. Then in back are fun pleats at the waist in the bodice and interesting panels from the waist getting wider as it goes down. Metal zipper at the side. Small size, I'd say. No label.
$ 99.00This is a stunning dress from the 1940s in black satin. It may be a silk satin, it feels like it to me, but I can't wear to it. Either way its very fine quality material. Has metal zipper on the side. Dolman capped sleeves with substantial shoulder pads. Smocking at the cleavage, and a fantastic bit of peplum in the front. No label. Thread loops for a belt but no belt alas. About a small I'd say.
$ 89.00This is a stunning dress from the 1940s, possibly later 30s in black silk velvet. Has metal zipper on the side. Smocking at either shoulder from the collar, and embroidery at the cuffs and the front of the torso in the shape of little flowers. The cutest little rosette made of lace at the left breast. This embroidery gives a slightly quilted feel to these areas. Really sweet. No label. Short puffed sleeve--like a leg-o-mutton but short- small shoulder pads. Probably a small to medium.
$ 64.00Beautiful vintage black taffeta dress from the 1940s. Darling pearlized buttons down the front and cute pleating and matching buttons on the sleeves. But what makes this dress extra cool is that underneath the pearlized buttons, are four hidden buttons to help with getting in and out of the dress without sacrificing the charm of the many small buttons on the front. It also comes with a side metal zipper to make things even easier! Medium to large size.
$ 65.00Beautiful vintage black taffeta dress from the 1940s. Short sleeves with velvet pointed cuffs. Matching velvet trim round the V neckline with a modesty panel across the bust. Flirty pleated draping at one hip. Shoulder pads. Fantastic velvet belt with metal buckle. Side metal zipper. Large to extra large size, I'd say.
$ 89.00Black Velvet is so hard to photograph, I never seem to be able to do it justice. This dress is so gorgeous. Silk velvet in night black. Slightly empire waist with cross your heart neckline and a bow detail. On said bow there resides one wonderful rhinestone broach. This broach is missing a few stones, but its barely noticeable and simply adds to the overall charm of this dress. Or replace the broach altogether if you wish! In addition there are two hip pockets, so popular in the 40s! Side metal zipper. This is the softest, most wonderful dress, its the kind of dress you want to cuddle, just as much as wear. Medium Sized.
$ 69.00Pretty Spring floral dress from the 40s. The print on this is so fresh and pretty with its blue and purple flowers! Scoop neck, short dolman sleeves. This is a sheer nylon or rayon and would need a slip under it. Zipper on the side. Medium sized, I'd say. No label.
$ 325.00Stunning 1940s wedding gown in a champagne / darker ivory satin. Absolutely beautiful! Short sleeves, shoulder pads, sweetheart neckline and princess seams, metal zipper on the side, and all these lovely flower appliques on the sleeves, bodice, down the front of the skirt and along the bottom front of the skirt. The satin on this is super soft. No label. Small size, I'd say.
$ 27.00Perfectly perfect little summer sundress circa 1940s. In a print of multicolored flowers that just make me wanna wash that man right outta my hair, a'la South Pacific. Cotton. Wide spaghetti straps, princess seams down the front and back, below knee length. Metal zipper on the side. Medium sized, I'd say. No label. Such a cute dress.
$ 129.00Charming full length party dress from the 1940s. The under layer is a white cotton or cotton blend, and over that is a layer of a sheer nylon scattered with tiny reed dots. Shawl collar over the shoulders, v neck and extra wide ruffled hem. Metal zipper up the back. I love the perfect placement of the red rose applique at the décolletage. No label.
$ 70.00Wonderful girl scouts uniform from the 40s. Two larger hip pockets, one small breast pocket and buttons up the front. Long sleeves, and buttons at the cuffs. All the buttons bear the Girl Scout seal and I believe they are bakelite. There are two patches on the left shoulder, One says Los Angeles and the other has the troop number, 138. I believe this is cotton. The label is just wonderful. Reads: Girl Scouts, National Equipment Service, New York City, Official. Seems like an extra small to me.
$ 65.00Fantastic vintage late 40s early 50s New Look party dress in a green damask with gold flowers. She's too small for any of my dress forms so I've pinned it to Sophia ( one of my forms) here. Tank style sleeve, pleated diamond shape neckline and low back. Full skirt though not quite a full circle, metal zipper down the side. Extra small. There is no label.
$ 52.00Lovely khaki silk dress from the later 40s, possibly early 50s. Shirtwaist style with matching fabric covered buttons up the front and one snap at the waist. Stylized pockets at both left breast and right hip. Sleeves are wonderful cuffed, though I've shown them uncuffed here. Label reads: An Original by Alexanders of California. Hand Detailed"
$ 66.00This is a darling novelty print nylon dress from the 1940s. Long cuffed sleeves, buttons up the front with matching fabric buttons. There is also a matching belt. Cute pleating on the skirt. This is a flannel-ish material, but not a cotton flannel. probably a rayon. Its super, super soft. There used to be a tag but it was cut out at some point. There is still a union made label in the skirt though. I'd say this is on the smaller large size.
$ 140.00Fantastic vintage late 40s/ early 50s New Look party dress in salmon pink lace over an opaque salmon acetate lining. Comes with a matching belt. Full skirt, mid length, short dolman sleeves that are gathered down the length, metal zipper on the side. This is such a pretty dress and perfect for just about any event. Label reads: Jack Kopp, California. Probably in the medium size range.
$ 119.00I was lucky enough to stumble across this piece of Hollywood memorabilia. This is a real 1940s prom or party dress that was used as a costume in the 1980s cult classic, Voyage of the Rock Aliens. It was worn by Pia Zadora, the female star of the film. Bodice is boned, and is strapless. Dress is opaque pink acetate covered in dust pink tulle. The tulle is embedded with sparkling bits of glitter. Ruching and tucks over the décolletage. Metal zipper on the side. I've shown this with only a very narrow crinoline so this is almost it's natural fullness. You could add one if you wanted it even fuller though the skirt is not a full circle so you would be best to have one that's not too fluffy. Label reads: None. Small size, I'd say.
Beautiful classic vintage black crepe dress from the early 1940s. Simple and elegant sheath style with a slightly fuller skirt. Has an interesting little bit of stitching at the left hip in front down the skirt to give it some shape and interest ending in a small kick pleat at the bottom hem with a matching really small kick pleat in back. 3/4 sleeves. Has a side metal zipper, and a short metal zipper at the back of the neck as well. Medium to large size, I'd say.
Great vintage condition. There is a bit of color fade at the shoulders and a quarter sized faded spot on one arm, and a couple of very small pinhead sized holes. The tab of the zipper in back is missing, but the zipper still works just fine you just have to grab it at the little jump rings instead. All of that is very minor and not really noticeable. The worst bit is a threadbare area near the left armpit. I have shown a photo. It has been repaired and patched prior to coming into my possession, and quite well. Dress is priced accordingly.
Measurements when lying flat, Doubled at bust, waist, and hip
Armpit to armpit across bust: 41"
Shoulder to waist: approx. 16"
Shoulder to bottom hem: 46"
