Update: I have five of these left. I have updated the titles available below.
This is wonderful collection set of the great French romances. This was originally a set of twenty books. I don't have all of them (only 16), so I don't mind breaking up the set. They were published in 1901 and 1902 by D. Appleton & Co, and edited by Edmund Gosse. In addition each volume includes a Introduction and Essay by a notable person of the era, for example Henry James, The Earl of Crewe, Booth Tarkington, and many more. These are lovely to look at also in sage green hardbound covers with fleur de lis and crowns on the spine. Inside is a pretty title page and a portrait of the author of each respective book.
Each book is about 8.25" x 5.75".
The condition of the books vary though they are all in about the same general shape. There is some wear to the covers, though nothing that doesn't just come across as wonderful signs of age and love. Small dings or tears in the corners, some dark smudges etc...Most of the interiors are sound, perhaps some marks or waterspots on some pages. Nothing that makes any of them unreadable or enjoyable. If you would like specific info about a specific volume, please don't hesitate to contact me.
If you are interested in buying all of the books or at least several, please let me know before placing an order as I may be able to give you a better price.
The books in the series that I have are as follows:
The Black Tulip by Alexander Dumas, Pere (The Elder), intro by Richard Garnet
The Brigadier Frederick by Emile Erchmann and Alexander Chatrain, intro by Richard Burton
The Nabob by Alphonse Daudet, intro by Prof. W. P. Trent
Please note: These are vintage, preworn and/or preloved items. I do my best to list any issues, but signs of wear should be expected. Please feel free to convo me with any questions. I'm truly happy to help in any way possible and I'm always up for a chat. Any accessories shown, including crinolines, are for display only, not included unless otherwise stated.
