A New Website To Match My New Home

Greetings Misfits!

Its been some time since I've written a blog post. It is long overdue, but I hope you can forgive me as this last year has been an exceptional one. As most of you know we moved 1000 miles to our new home in the Pacific Northwest and there has been so much to do! From getting the animals and ourselves settled into a new location and new way of life, to discovering the plenty our little farm has to offer us and learning how to use its gifts.  This life suits me, that much is clear. I spend my days collecting eggs and canning fruits, growing my wild foraging knowledge and of course, finding and restoring my adored vintage.

Joyfully, another wonderful that has happened since being here is my desire to paint has returned. I've painted eight new pieces so far and have sketches ready to go for several others. For those of you who started following me many years ago you'll know I was a fairy and fantasy artist. Well, that muse has fled, but a new one has taken its place and now I can't stop painting little ghosts and other spooky but magical visions.  I hope you enjoy this new direction my creative side is taking as much as I'm enjoying creating it! Prints are available and as soona s I can procure a new art printer, I'll be bringing back some of the best selling older ones too!

So that brings us to the actual subject of this blog and that's the new design of this very website! I am sure you noticed a rather striking difference when you arrived here today. And perhaps you remember my survey several months ago asking for opinions on if I should go a little earthier, a little darker in my presentation. Well, the reality is that I don't live in sunny CA anymore. I live in the moody, cloudy Northwest. The light is different here, which makes my photos different. I struggled for months to get that bright crisp product photo quality with the natural light here and it just doesn't exist in any way I can efficiently work with. I am still not totally set on individual product backgrounds yet, you'll still see a mix of my old lighter background and my darker one. I may find something in the middle actually.  But, I decided to lean into where I am and create a website that reflects my new surroundings and my 120 year old home. Its taken me weeks and so much is still going on behind the scenes to get it just right but I'm so excited to bring this new look to you.  In a sea of white websites it feels good to be doing something that feels more like me.

I've added two new navigation options to the Home page. You'll still find all the old familiar links across the top but now there are two main links, Shop Vintage and Shop Art that will take you directly to all the available collections in that genre. I hope that will make it easier to find exactly what you're looking for, and maybe discover something you weren't! I hope you like the new look as much as I do. Take your time exploring and if you feel called to, please leave me a comment below and let me know what you think!

Till next time, Misfits!
